This is the last cutscene, guys! Once again, we have Kelly’s POV. I ended up omitting this because, again, I couldn’t introduce her POV until the next book, but also because it didn’t really add anything to the chapter itself. I thought it was amusing though, and I share it with you all now!
I apologize for how long it took me to get back to you all; I’ve been dealing with a lot, the end of the holidays, my grandfather dying, the start up of my second college semester- It’s been a busy time for me. But I return nonetheless!
Kelly
I get the strange sensation that I’m swimming. Swimming through the darkness, trying to find the way up. I can breathe, I don’t feel as if I’m suffocating. It feels more like…like trying to wake up on a day when you’re just completely exhausted and would rather sleep for the rest of eternity than move a muscle.
But there’s something important…something I needed to do or say… An intricate, ancient book appears for a brief moment in my mind’s eye. The spell book…Sabaibā… At once, everything rushes back with a sudden burst of light.
It takes a second for me to realize my eyes are open, not until they started adjusting, taking in my surroundings. I’m in a room, rafters and a ceiling over my head instead of trees and sky. I’m lying on a soft mattress, the light is coming from a partially covered window.
I blink, then try to sit up, only to discover I’m all tangled up in the blanket.
“Kelly?!” Someone’s there, helping me untangle myself. I shake my head, looking up and recognizing Terry. His gray-blue eyes are wide, and he looks slightly like a deer in headlights. “You’re awake! Uh…I thought Miwa said you wouldn’t be awake for another couple days.”
“Another cou-” I pause, throwing off the blanket completely, “How long have I been-“
“Five days…” he winces.
“Five-” I jump off the bed, only to face-plant directly into the floor.
Terry yelps, “Wait, you’re supposed to-“
“Where’s the spell book?!” I push myself up, stumbling backward and catching myself on a chair. “Where is it, Terry?” He hesitates. “TER-“
“It’sinthecareofMiwa, shekeepsitinherhouseroomthing,” he blurts, nothing short of panicked, “But she said you need to-“
“Forget what Miwa said,” I mumble, half running and half tripping out of the room.
“Wait-” he runs after me. I’m kind enough not to slam the door in his face. I wait to close it until after he’s out as well. “Kelly, you can’t- WaIt, DON’T-” As I run down the halls, dodging others, I hear him groan, “Aaaaand now we’re locked out.”
When I return again, you all will be getting sneak peeks at the unedited second book…Tigress Returns! I’ll see you all then!
